The purpose of this paper is to quantify the impact on the academic performance of students due to the implementation of the use of online educational platforms, videoconferencing applications and the conditions in which the subjects are being developed, which differ substantially from the pre-existing ones. The study was carried out considering first and second year chairs of mathematics common to the different engineering specialties that are taught in the Faculty of Engineering (UNICEN). A first retrospective analysis was carried out by reviewing the proportions of passes in the studied courses taught during the period 2016-2019 (face-to-face teaching), which were compared using various statistical methodologies with the period 2020-2021 where virtual teaching methods were introduced. It was determined that the new virtual treatments applied contributed to the improvement of the academic performance of the students in some of the subjects analyzed.
